Where would we be without adult films? They're just like modelling or TV, in the sense that they introduce us to easy-on-the-eyes totty. But unlike other media, we get to see the babes in question do the nasty, rather than just imagine it. And it's this very on-screen nastification that pretty much places them outside the mainstream, and in the adult ghetto.

Do these hardworking babes ever make it to the mainstream? Well, some have made the journey, but a) it's a long and difficult one, and b) they only ever end up on the fringe of the mainstream... no oscars for ex-pornstars! The closest is the legendary starlet Traci Lords, who did manage to make the move to guest spots in TV shows, and the odd feature role (Crybaby, with Johnny Depp; a brief appearance in Blade with Wesley Snipes), but she's never going to be a media darling.
