Katie Kuehner-Hebert
Katie Kuehner-Hebert is the construction industry writer
for The San Diego Daily Transcript. She came to the
Transcript from Eagle Newspapers, serving as both editor of The Coronado Eagle and The Chula Vista Eagle, two community newspapers in the San Diego area. In Chula Vista, Katie was also the principal reporter and photographer.
Katie has also worked at other community newspapers
across the country, including three papers within The
Lakeland Newspaper Group in suburban Chicago, Ill.; The
Ballinger Ledger in Texas; and has contributed to two San
Diego papers, The Peninsula Beacon and The Beach and Bay
Press.
She brings a bit of construction industry experience to
her position at the Transcript; she worked for a year at a
San Diego electrical contracting firm. She is familiar with both the construction process as well as many of the
leading firms in the area.
Katie won the 1997 Press Club Award for Best Real Estate
Story for her coverage of drug abuse on construction job
sites. She is also the 1999 Communicator of the Year for
the Consulting Engineers and Land Surveyors of California.
Katie is married to Lee Hebert and has two children,
Caroline, 9, and Zachary, 5. She is currently a Camp Fire
Boys and Girls Club co-leader, and board secretary for the
Fair Housing Council of San Diego.
