"A MONUMENTAL TRIO"
Monument Valley, Arizona
Massive granite sentinels
Three colossals in size
Standing guard over barren land
Reaching toward the skies.
Chameleon colors changing
Spotlighting the play
Of light and darkened shadows
Flickering with the day.
Grandeur reminiscent of
American Indians past
Echoes through the quiet
Rumbling, tumbling fast.
Carved and shaped, formed and molded
Wrought by wind, rain and sun
Ever imperceptibly changing
For Nature's work is never done.

Arches National Park, Utah
In a magnificent cliff
Overlooking low land
Nature has carved
An opening that's grand -
So that man may view
In a particular way
The sight of blue heaven
As clouds swirl and play -
Over other pillars
Of similar stone
To prove that this rock
Stands not alone -
Man may long ponder
And wonder why
Nature created this
"Eye to the Sky".

Once upon a time
In an age long past
Utensils and tools
Were made to last -
They came from the earth
In a homespun way
Made of natural materials
Woods, metals and clay -
They were crafted and formed
With much love and care
To serve well their owners
Through years of hard wear -
Now their usefulness is over
And they're thrown out in a heap
Even so, "Some Things Old"
Are worthwhile to keep.

Of lush velvety green -
Built by experienced hands
With designs to display
The epitome of crafts
And high style of the day -
Filled with spires and domes
Widow's walk and other ways
Which recall the gracefullness
Of many yesterdays -
She's a true classic beauty
Most worthy of her fame
Which sreads both far and wide
For, Victorian is her name.
