If
you're looking to get away from it all, than a
trip to the oases is just for you. Scattered
around Egypt's immense western desert are five
isolated oases thriving with vegetation, namely
Kharga, Dakhla, Farafra, Baharreya and Siwa.
Around each oasis are some ancient Pharaonic,
Roman and other archeological sites which could be
interesting. We should point out, however, that
the reason to visit the oases is not to look at
archeology, but to experience and live the exotic
and primitive life of the natives, who have lived
there unhindered for hundreds of years. In other
words, a visit to the oases is an anthropological
venture, and not an archeological one.
