GRAND CANYON
In early June, 2000, I accompanied my brother Nathan's Boy Scout Troop on a backpacking trip to Supi, Az., located on the Havasupai Indian Reservation below the South Rim.  I hiked almost 40 miles over 3 days.

This first shot is taken near the trailhead, about 6:00 am.
About 9 miles down is the namesake, Havasu Falls.  The campground is just downstream of here.  2 miles upstream is the Indian Village of Supi, accessible only by air or trail.

Minerals in the water create Travertine pools and formations.  The area appears much like something you would see at a Las Vegas Resort.

Water Temperature must have been on the order of 45 degrees, but still very refreshing.
Upper Left - Mooney Falls, just downstream of the Campground.  Accessing the falls requires climbing down a rock face, utilizing ladders, tunnels,  and chains embedded in the rock.

Above - Lower Havasu Creek, on the way to the Colorado River.

Left - The Colorado River.  Havasu Creek enters from the right, just past the boats.  This is a popular layover spot for Raft Trips through the Canyon, stopping over for several hours while the rafters make an afternoon hike up the Creek.
