Cork City's Adventures started in the Great Northern Hotel, Bondoran, Co. Donegal. It was here that

they were voted into the League Of Ireland in 1984, the most important aim for the club was not to get relegate in

the first season and they achieved this. The second season proved to be alot harder and they only managed to by

finishing above Shelbourne, they struggled at home gaining only three points from all 11 games. Cork City did

however manage to reach the final of the FAI Cup, going down to eventual winners, Shamrock Rovers. In the '87

season Cork got a new manager, Eamonn O' Keefe and got their first trophy, the munster Senior Cup, defeating

arch rivels Cobh in the final. The team finished the league in seventh and got to the quarter final of the cup. The

following season the team performed poorly and O' Keefe was replaced by Noel O' Mahony, he helped the club

avoid relegation and they even reached the final of the FAI cup only to lose in a replay to Derry, But because

Derry were league champions, Cork were to enter European Competition.

In the 1989/90 season the club lost 6-0 on agg. to Torpedo Moscow, they however did win the Munster

Senior Cup and finished fifth in the league. The following year Cork City led the league for all but the final week

of the season, they lost only two matches all season but were pipped to the title by Dundalk. There was little

consolation in lifting the Munster Senior Cup. In the 1991/92 season Cork Played Bayern Munich in Europe, they

drew 1-1 at home and werew unlucky to lose 2-0 in munich. on the pitch they finished third in the league and lost

in the final of the cup to Bohs. The following season saw City win the league for the first time, defeating Bohs

and Shels in a series of playoffs, they also won the Munster Senior Cup. The following season saw Cork get a new

manager, Damien Richardson. His first task was in the Champions league preliminary rounds where they

progressed in the first round against Cwmbrian Town of Wales, they were however not strong enpough to beat

Galatasaray side who would later defeat Man Utd. In the league City finished runners-up for the second time. The

following season was a disappointing one for City, problems with Bishopstown led to some home games being

played in Turners Cross, The mess led to the resignation of Richardson and City finished the season under Noel O'

Mahony and only managed seventh place in the league. Dave Barry was appointed as new coach and Cork finished

the next season in fourth. the following season saw City play well in the inter-Toto cup and Draw three games and

lose one to German side F.C. Kohn. This season saw City finish third in the league and win the Cup in a replay

against Shelbourne.

In the 1998/99 season Cork came close to winning the league, but poor showings against a gifted Pats

side saw the team lose the league in the last weeks of the season, in the cup Cork went out early to a spirited Finn

Harps team and the Leesiders were left to dream of another day. The 1999/00 season started brilliantly for Cork

City and the team beat Goteborg 1-0 at the Cross a week after been beaten 3-0 in Sweden. On the League front

Cork finished in second place and earned a Eufa Cup place, while in the cups City were Knocked out in the second

round by Kilkenny, but did get some silverwear lifting the Munster Senior Cup for the third year running.
