Nicholas and Alexandra

by Robert K.  Massie

This is more than just a biography of Russia's last ruling family before the revolution.  It's a fascinating tale of how a family's misfortune indirectly changed the world forever.  How?  Czar Nicholas was too distracted by his son and heir's hemophelia to rule effectively.  That and he was the wrong ruler at the wrong time.  But I digress.  (No kidding.)  It's very good.  If you ever take a class about Russian history then read it.  Or read it if you're never going to study Russian history in your life.  Well, except for the fact that they keep referring to Alexei as Alexis, but that's not really important.  And watch out for the evil Rasputin...
