The Outer Limits

My dad could sum up this show in one word : "weird".  And that pretty much says it all, actually.  Related to The Twilight Zone, though neither is an imitation of the other.  It can be thought-provoking, scary, strange, and even inspiring every so often.  Basically, it's a bunch of unrelated science fiction stories, kind of like a filmed version of those really thick books of short stories you can find on the bargain shelves at a chain bookstore.  Many of them have a moral of some sort, and like The Twilight Zone, they begin and end with a short narration which reveals that moral.  Unfortunately, The Outer Limits does not have Rod Serling to do those narrations.  There are really two seperate series.  The first is from the sixties, at about the same time as The Twilight Zone; the second began production about five years ago and is still on the air, though it can be hard to find, especially in prime time hours.  There aren't a whole lot of celebrity guest stars, though I've seen a couple of guys from Star Trek and a couple guest stars from The X-Files in the few episodes I've seen.  I guess it's not much more than the most stereotypical version of science fiction at a glance, but it's far more than that in reality.

Not much depth of information, but there's a lot of stuff, and it looks very cool.
