Romeo and Juliet

Romeo falls in love with the daughter of his father's mortal enemy, Juliet, and marries her in secret.  Then Juliet's cousin kills Romeo's best buddy, Romeo kills Juliet's cousin, Romeo gets banished, and it all goes downhill from there.

The classic love story that everybody knows.  This was the play that introduced me to Shakespeare back in the eighth grade, and to my surprise I loved it.  In a way, we can all identify with the experience of loving-or sort of loving, or at least having a crush-someone inaccesible or who didn't return it and we've all had our hearts torn out by it.  At least, I don't think that's just me. This manages to be a nice, sweet, sappy play even though it ends so badly, and that is the-dare I say? yes-magic of it.  And it talks a lot about how various relationships and loyalties affect the things we do, the senselessness of hate and violence, and all that stuff.  Plus it's got some pretty great dueling, and how can you go wrong with that?
