Timequake

by Kurt Vonnegut

Like many of Vonnegut's books, he himself is the first-person narrator, and the story blends the facts of his life with fiction.  Actually, there isn't too much of a plot.  The basic idea is that, due to some kind of disturbance in the universe, the ten years between 1991 and 2001 repeat themselves, but this isn't really the story of the timequake.  The book kind of dances around that idea, takes it and runs with it.  Like I said, it's not really about anything, and yet I think that the meaning of life can somehow be found here if you look hard enough.  There's stuff about free will, that's pretty obvious, and yet...  Very existentialist, so if you like your stories simple and happy, don't bother.  It reads very fast, too-it can be hard to put down just because you keep wondering what will happen next, in a good way.  It's just incredible.
