57. Charles HAYNIE was born on 
21 Oct 1731 in St. Stephen's Parish, Northumberland County, Virginia (One source gives 
birth date as: 24 October 1734; author Beverley Fleet).  He died before Sep 1798 in 
Culpeper County, Virginia. Charles must not have been of age when his mother wrote her 
will, because she directed that Charles was to have two years of schooling out of her 
estate, and when he reached the age of 16 to be bound to a trade.  He was apprenticed to 
Isaac Beachem to learn the trade of a house carpenter (Order Book 1743-1749, p. 252).
  Charles' estate was ordered appraised by the county court in September 1798
and the appraisal was returned to the court on 18 February 1799 by Anthony Haynie.
  Charles estate included five slaves and the worth of the estate was estimated
at 337,o,1 pounds.  Other estate items included: "one cow, one bed and furniture,
two augurs, one horse, one smooth gun, one cupboard, one amns saddle, one brass
candlestick, one mid stone, one parcel of old pewter and two old potts and a pan".
He was married to Elizabeth STRAUGHAN. Elizabeth STRAUGHAN was 
born about 1735 in Virginia.
Charles HAYNIE and Elizabeth STRAUGHAN had the following children:

Sarah Ball HAYNIE was born 16 December 1778 in St. Stephen's Parish, Northumberland
