Sonoran Desert Museum

I'm a big fan of museums of all types. The Sonoran Desert Museum west of Tucson is one of my favorites. It packs a lot of information and some great displays into one area. It's a good place to stop early in your visit to Tucson if you aren't familiar with the Sonoran Desert and a good place to brush up on your desert lore if you think you are. It's a good place to take visitors, especially those with limited mobility, as there is a large variety of desert scenery available with relatively easy access.

We can look at some of the different displays and the desert surrounding the museum. Besides the varied displays at the museum, there are some back country trails. I haven't explored any of them but I recommend carrying a lot of water.

Let's look around a little.

These are some views of the desert along the road to the museum. If the country looks rough, it is. It's no place for the casual hiker who ventures out without water. It can go from uncomfortable to deadly very quickly.
