For the Love of French Vanilla
ByRogue Fire

“Now that you can touch, Rogue what are you going to do?” Gambit asked with a mischievous twinkle in his eye.

“Hmm, what do ah wanna ta do with you, ma first day as a normal human bein’?” Rogue thoughtfully said.

Gambit waited in hope. If he didn’t know how stupid he looked doing it, he’d be doing lip exercises right about now.

“Ya know what ah want ta do more than anything in the world with you today. What ah always wanted ta do with you?” Rogue sexily said.

“What’s dat chere?” anticipation was killing him.

“Well, ah would like to go out for coffee,” she said.

“You what?!” Gambit exclaimed.

“Picture it. The first time you and ah walk into Annie’s coffee shop bare hand in hand. Remy, that all ah’ve evah wanted. To lead a normal human life. And this sounds like just the way ta do it. But that’s alright if ya don’t want ta,” she said.

Gambit pondered this thought for a bit and then grasped her right hand and held it tenderly in his smooth grip.

“As you wish cherie,”

And with that he gracefully kissed her bare hand with his warm, soft lips. A familiar saying went through his head. “All good things come to those who wait”. He loved Rogue and made it this far. He could wait a few hours more.

So Rogue and Gambit both got into her red Pontiac Grand Am and zoomed down the 35 towards Annie’s coffee shop. They pulled into the empty parking lot. It was never crowded yet everyone in town say they go there. As Rogue parked her car, gambit jumped out before she even put it into park. As Rogue rustled around trying to get her purse in the back seat, Remy came to the other side of the car and gallantly opened her door.

“After you chere,” he said with a wave of his hand.

Rogue smiled sweetly and got out of the car by the aide of Remy’s outstretched hand. She felt like she was in a fairytale she never thought would become real. He pulled her out of the car and up close to him. They looked deep into each other’s eyes and just gazed. She could smell the scent of Tommy cologne on him and he could smell her Chanel No. 5. They both loved these smells of each other and cherished the moment. Remy kissed her forehead and entwined his fingers in hers and Rogue went down the path she had always dreamed of. She was going to show the whole world, or at least this small coffee shop, that she loved Remy LeBeau and wasn’t just his little tag along. She was proud of him and knew that this would be the highlight of her life.

He opened the pull-to doors for her and let her enter. They walked up to the counter and Remy put his arm around her waist and held her close.

“What ya gonna order sugah? The usual?” Rogue asked.

“But of course chere. Nuthin’s better than French vanilla cappuccino. And maybe dis time you’ll care to share it wit me?”

“Why, Mr. LeBeau ah’d be honored,” she said.

Remy ordered them a large French vanilla cappuccino with whipped topping, topped with chocolate sprinkles, nutmeg, and cinnamon complete with two straws. He led her over to where they usually sat, near the huge picture window. They sat down and leaned over to grasp each other’s straw between their lips.

“Since when do people drink coffee through a straw?” Rogue asked.

“Since it was more romantic then having to keep switching a hot cup between two people. Not to mention I want dis to be the best night of your life chere.”

“It already is. Which reminds me. Ah wanted to let you in on a little secret sugah.”

“Which is ma cherie?” he asked curiously.

“Ma name. It’s…Autumn,” she whispered sweetly.

Gambit stared at her in disbelief. She actually told him her real name. He felt honored now.

“Ma dad named me that because he thought the color of ma hair was the color of autumn leaves and ma eyes looked like the greenage on the rise of spring. Well. Aren’t you goin’ to say anything sugah?”

“I just can’t believe you told me dat. I feel like I am so much closer to you now. Thank you Ro-I mean Autumn. Dis means so much to me I could never express it,” he could barely get the words out.

“Ah know how you feel Remy. And ah’m hopin’ that now we can get past all those boundaries and move on with our lives. Ma life is you, Remy LeBeau, and ah don’t want to lose ma life to secrets. Do you?”

“’Course not chere. And from here on out dere will be complete honesty and trust between us. Do we both understand?”

“Ah sure do sugah. Now how about we get out of this place and head back to ma place,” she said with a flirty twinkle in her eye.

“Why do you want to go—Oh, nevermind. Of course ma cherie. As you wish.”

As they left Annie’s they talked the whole way about their lives. Past, present, and future. When they got up the many stairs leading to her room she stopped before she opened the door.

“You sure you want to do dis chere?” Gambit asked. “I don’t want you to tink you have to do anything on your first day.”

“Oh, ah’m sure Remy. Surer than evah before. Now come here and gimme a kiss ma cajun cutie!”

And with that invitation he leaned towards her and gave her a soft kiss. But that wasn’t all either of them wanted. They wanted more. Mouths consumed each other. They pressed harder and harder against each other. Hands wandering over each other’s bodies. Tongues lapped together. Remy finally, not wanting any interruptions out in the hall, lifted Autumn swiftly, and opened the door. She gazed lovingly into his eyes, needing to feel his love. Rogue no longer, Autumn moved on to a new life when that large wooden door clicked shut and the lock was turned.
