Itsukushima Shrine is a famous building in Miyajima and it looks so beautiful and attractive in red. Last year, a heavy thyphoon destroyed part of the shrine and huge amount of money were used to restore it. Although damages caused by thyphoon happened now and then, people are willing to spend money for the restoration as the Itsukushima shrine is a place of worship for them. It is said that in the ancient time, people sensed the spiritual sanctity of Miyajima, and have revered and worshipped it as goddess.
