Prologue
- Old canine, Pidth, guardian of the elemental stones, get a visit from
an ancient soldier of Xte. The soldier is possessed by the element
of earth or land. The soldier kills Pidth, but not before Pidth releases
the remaining elements.
- Kaelin, a former colleague of the above officer of Xte, feels his
presence and the death of Pidth.
- Pidth's brother feels his death too and decides to release a furre's
soul to help him.
*takes place the same year Gorian, Markliam, Espio, and Moonlit are
born.
*Kaelin is the furre of water, Pidth's brother is the furre
of souls; Pidth releases the elements of fire, sand,
stars,
ice, music, light, seasons. Two other
elements: sky and time, are not mentioned because they already
have hosts.
*Kaelin is the first of six old school furres to appear
*Mount Kuisp is named after the creator of Gorian
Chapter 1 (Yrdnal Village)
- Markliam plays a "hide-and-seek" game with Cunner with his father's crossbow outside his village of Yrdnal. Markliam notices something is wrong and heads back to the village where he finds it burning. Demons spot him and chase him off a cliff and he loses consciousness. He awakes and is cared for by a stranger.
*take place when Markliam is 11 years-old.
*Markliam is the second of six old school furres to appear
*Yrdnal is named after the author (ego!)
*first mention of Gorian the Warrior
Chapter 2 (Stargazing)
-Kaelin and the rest of Meovanni hears the news that Yrdnal has been raided and burned by vamps, but Kaelin doubts that vamps were involved. She watches her foster child Gorian with Moonlit play under the stars and realizes that Moonlit has the element of stars. She takes Gorian home just before a rain storm. A stranger arrives at the home, whom Kaelin recognizes as her dead superior Damoxte Damoxte brings Markliam (with crossbow) to the house with a head injury. Damoxte suggests that Moonlit's identity should be kept a secret. Damoxte walks out and disappears.
*Moonlit is the furre of stars (4th of 12 mentioned)
*Damoxte is the furre of time (5th of 12)
*Gorian and Moonlit are both old school furres.
*Meovanni is a "real" map in Furcadia
*Its revealed that Dark Harvest brought Gorian to Kaelin after his
family was killed.
*one of my favourite chapters =)
Chapter 3 (Dreamers)
-Markliam dreams of a waterfall, awakes to find himself in Kaelin's hut with Gorian.
*first appearance of Kaelin as a child
*Kaelin's eyes are blue, but in "real" Furcadia, they're green.
This is not an error... but a plan... so there.
Chapter 4 (Children of Meovanni)
-the day after chapter 3, Markliam comes out of the hut and topples
Kaelin over with a haystack while she's practicing
-months later Gorian and Markliam raid Tuanni's bar with Markliam's
crossbow and discover ginger ale!!! Tuanni catches them as is about
to strike Markliam, but Kaelin poofs into the scene and prevents it.
Later when Markliam returns to Kaelin's hut, Kaelin informs him that she's
keeping the crossbow until he's mature enough to use it. Markliam
apologizes for the hay sacking earlier as Kaelin tries to put doubt into
him that it may not of been vamps that attacked Yrdnal. Markliam
soon remembers running off the cliff and starts to cry.
*Kaelin refers to Markliam and Gorian as "her boys" for the first time!
This is not a sick fantasy on the author's part, despite what one of you
may believe. =P
*first discussion about Kaelin's mortality (or lack thereof)
*roscby tree is named after the creator of Moonlit Star
*ginger ale is popularized by all mentioned old school furres in "real"
Furcadia. Drink of choice is Canada Dry! Not the evil Schweppes.
*one of my least favourite chapters =P
Chapter 5 (For the Good of Ginger Ale)
-from Moonlit's perspective, a bar outing where Gorian, Moonlit, and Mar meet Cyiet, the poet, and Chloria, the vamp hunter.
*the second appearance of ginger ale!!!
*takes place when Moonlit, Gorian, and Mar are 18 years old
*from here on in, Markliam prefers to be called by his first name,
Mar.
*very subtle reference to the blue-green rivalry between Gorian and
Mar. This takes place often and not so subtle in "real" Furcadia.
*first appearance of Cyiet, the troubadour without an instrument
*first reference to a poem written by an officer of Xte.
*very subtle jealously by Gorian towards Cyiet when the latter flirts
with Moonlit
*Tuanni was originally going to be an old school furre ... someone
with lips of a frog, but he poofed
*first indication that Moonlit has a mortality issue too
Chapter 6 (Meovanni Ensemble)
-Gorian and Mar return to Kaelin's hut where Mar demands Kaelin to return
his crossbow so that he can join Chloria with her vamp hunting. Kaelin
protests, but he takes the crossbow anyway. Teenage rebellion.
Kaelin then questions Gorian's motives for joining Mar. Gorian insists
that he's going to keep Mar out of danger. Gorian shows Kaelin the
poem from chapter 5.
-Cyiet teaches his explorer friend, Gelae, martial arts while Gelae's
mate, Moraine looks on. Cyiet recalls his father's teachers while
he was a homeless kid in a big city.
-Chloria's brother, Forestwind, protests Mar and Gorian's sudden interest
in joining them
-Moonlit feels offensive about Gorian's decision to join Mar.
-Kaelin rereads the poem from chapter 5. She's visited by three
Christmas spir... I mean Damoxte and Dark Harvest. Kaelin admits
to Damoxte that she wrote the poem. Damoxte tells Kaelin that she
must protect Moonlit above all else, while Dark Harvest and herself will
protect "her boys".
-Gorian meets up with Mar, Chloria, and Forestwind as they begin their
trek to Mount Kuisp.
-Cyiet beats up Gelae. They watch Chloria's group and realize
that they too need to travel to Mount Kuisp, albeit for different reasons.
*Kaelin is at least a century old! Looking gooood!
*Kaelin reveals that she too was orphaned when she was a kid by an
invading army. Only her father's big ass sword and drawings of her
family are what's left.
*Dark Harvest is revealed as the keeper of the dead, in reference to
the last scene of the prologue
*Chloria is the furre of seasons (6th of 12)
*Gelae is the furre of ice (7th of 12)
*Chloria's rashas are named after the creator of Kaelin
*first real mention that these furres have tails!!
Chapter 7 (Destination: Slen)
-Gorian observes Forestwind's resentment toward him and Mar.
-Furre of earth plans an attack on Kaelin and half buries his sidekick,
Almasta, for her sarcastic remarks.
*Almasta hints that furre of earth has feelings for Kaelin
Chapter 8 (Fire and Seasons)
-Mar and Gorian grouch at Forestwind's attitude. Chloria shows
them how to make a fire and pitch a tent!
-Chloria's ability to make a fire by blowing on wood makes Damoxte
think that she also has the element of fire. Dark Harvest tells her
that this is not true. Dark Harvest feels the furre of earth traveling
to Meovanni.
*Apparently furre of land was, at first, disgruntled with his element
thinking it was lacking in superior power.
*Dark Harvest says that no furre can have more than one element.
*Damoxte hates Dark Harvest
*first mention of Ayem, god of dusk.
*Mar and Kaelin are not worshippers of Ayem.
*Damoxte says that Kaelin can beat up furre of land
Chapter 9 (Tulip Tea and Company)
-Chloria drinks her favourite tea and recalls the over protectiveness of Forestwind and friend, Oylemanti. The group is joined by Cyiet, Gelae, and Moraine.
*Oylemanti is mentioned but not seen, but apparently he's obsessed with
her.
*Chloria and Forestwind's parents denounced their vamp hunting activities
*Chloria mentions her waterfall for the first time
*Moraine and Gelae are famous mapmakers of the Raina Mountains.
*Chloria admits that she likes Mar
Chapter 10 (Slen)
-Oylemanti roams around the almost empty streets of Slen. He enters
Espio's
where the barkeep, Espio, gives him a sandy ale. They bicker at each
other. They notice Exavia, a quiet but regular patron, and Oylemanti
goes to her table in an effort to flirt with her. He notices her
drawing of a winged-furre and laughs about it. Exavia leaves.
Oylemanti and Espio continue their bickering.
-Exavia FLIES away thinking about her search for her brother.
*Slen stinks ... literally. Its said to be a giant rotting purple
beetle carcass that fought and lost to Ayem. Oylemanti believes that
the walls and floor are merely purple micas and that the stench is probably
an ancient mortar.
*Espio and Exavia are the last of the six old school furres to appear!
*Slen is a dry city, despite the orographic topography theory in which
it should be very rainy
*In the prologue, Slen was a village. In the chapters before
10, it was called a town. Now it is a city. Author's oversight.
lol
*The beetle's legs became the aqueduct system for the city OR are they
merely a natural occurrence?
*Oylemanti is a wabbit
*Espio is a doggie
*Exavia is a flying kitten
*first time a furre flies
*Ayemday is the day of worship for the god of dusk, held every week
(this is not based on any known religion irl).
*Slen is divided into two religions: Ayem temples and Vamp alters.
This city "welcomes" both. Non-affiliates are small in number...
and they hang out at Espio's!
*Espio's is not found close to either places of worship.
*Slen has a large market square
*Espio is younger than Oylemanti
*Espio says that Exavia is "distracted by shiny objects". This
is Exavia's famous afk message in "real" Furcadia.
*one of my favourite chapters =)
Chapter 11 (Water's Musical Melody)
-Moraine writes about her meeting with Gorian, Mar, Chloria, and Forestwind
-They arrive in Slen where Moraine and Gelae seperate from the main
group; Chloria and Forestwind leave to find supplies. Cyiet hears
music and rushes to see who's playing it, Mar and Gorian follows.
Mar and Gorian believe they heard the song somewhere before. The
girl playing the music, Löe, and her father offers to sell the instrument
to Cyiet.
-Kaelin eavesdrops on Gorian, Mar, and Cyiet
-While Cyiet learns how to play the löe, Gorian spots a shield
he believes to belong to his ancestor. Mar haggles the price with
the merchant and they succeed in buying it. The shield proves too
heavy for only one of them to carry.
-Cyiet plays his new instrument next to a watering hole and feels a
presense.
-Kaelin, the presense, is inflicted with pain due to Cyiet's playing.
-Cyiet stops and realizes that he enjoys what he's done (unknowingly
hurting someone else).
-Furre of land watches the "exchange" between Kaelin and Cyiet.
*Cyiet gets an instrument!
*Garnet is the common currency (my apologies, I was working on my thesis
on garnet at the time of this chapter)
*Moraine's first journal entry
*Damoxte is so popular that she has a month named after her.
*The Ballad of Gorian the Warrior, the song Cyiet, Gorian, and
Mar heard, was previously hummed to Mar in chapter 1 by Damoxte.
*blue-green rivarly between Gorian and Mar!
*Theriopolis is mentioned. Its a map in "real" Furcadia.
*Cyiet reveals that he found Kaelin's poem in Theriopolis. The
merchant calls it a musical place.
Chapter 12 (Blue Skies)
-In Meovanni, Kaelin dreams that she's a little girl playing with her father on their chicken farm. The dream is interrupted by furre of land. He sedates and interogates her about the elements and who hosts them. He learns about Chloria and Moonlit. Kaelin manages to collapse her roof, allowing water to soak the furre of land, hurting him. He takes off with Kaelin's sword, looking for Moonlit. Kaelin gets her dagger and follows him.
*Kaelin was once afraid of the water
*Earth called Kaelin's father a threat and that the farmer was killed
by him, but Kaelin maintains that Earth was only a toddler when her family
was killed.
*Kaelin's father called her "Blue Skies"
Chapter 13 (Slen Ensemble)
-In Slen it starts to rain while Mar and Gorian find shelter by Espio's.
They are joined by Cyiet, who practices his löe and Moraine and Gelae,
who try to take a nap. Gorian and Mar watch as Gelae turns the rain
into ice pellets beside them, but Moraine wakes him and he stops.
Chloria arrives, mentions that she was supposed to meet a friend at the
bar, but decides to take Mar somewhere instead. Espio comes out of
the tavern and offers the remaining furres a place to sleep inside.
-Damoxte mentions the irony that they were finding elemental furres
just by following Mar and Gorian. Dark Harvest vanishes, saying that
someone in Meovanni was dying.
*this is the longest chapter to date (so sorry).
*Cyiet is the furre of music (8th of 12)
*perhaps the best confirmation that Dark Harvest is the furre of souls
and that this feline is the brother of canine Pidth, mentioned in the prologue.
*the rabbit leaving the bar was of course Oylemanti, the friend Chloria
was supposed to meet.
*the townspeople are unaccustomed to rain
*Damoxte sums up the elemental furres. Only fire, sand, and light
remain to be discovered. She mentions that furres of sky and land
are the ancestors of Mar and Gorian. It is not known which one hosted
what, but the ancestors had been revealed in previous chapters as Kliam
the Archer and Gorian the Warrior.
*Chloria says that it only rains in Slen when she's there
*Once readers read the last chapter of this story, they will notice
a big clue in this chapter about one of the characters (how vague is THAT?)
*more ginger ale!!! *drool*
*Cyiet recalls his childhood in Linde city as a homeless kid.
He met Gelae and Moraine when he was getting beaten up by guards.
They fought the guards and took off. They are now in exile from that
city.
Chapter 14 (Intruder at Roscby Tree)
-in Meovanni, furre of land tries to grab Moonlit as Kaelin tries to
intervene. A boy was pulled into the canal by Land and Moonlit punches
and "blows up" Land's head. Kaelin dives into the canal after the
boy.
-Kaelin find the boy underwater and tries to revive him. Dark
Harvest appears to collect the boy's soul, but Kaelin won't let him, successfully
reviving the kid. Dark Harvest poofs away and both Kaelin and kid
surface. Moonlit demands to know what all this was about.
*furre of land is first seen as an actual feline. Moonlit considers
him boyish in appearance.
*furre of stars can beat up furre of land
*Kaelin can survive without breathing underwater; Dark Harvest can
appear in any environment.
*Kaelin to Dark Harvest: "You took my family, you took my soldiers".
This indicates that Kaelin was once a superior officer
*Dark Harvest is an ancient and Kaelin cannot kill ancients.
*Dark Harvest does not mourn the passing of furres that are "not worth
anything in our fight against the wings"
*I am not happy with how the first part of this chapter turned out.
=/
Chapter 15 (Dance with the Seasons)
-Chloria and Mar dance in the rain
-Gorian laments about joining vamp hunters over a nice cool refreshingly
amazing glass of ginger ale
*Espio serves great ginger ale!
*Chloria admits that she's the cause of the rain in Slen and because
of her powers, she and Mar can walk in the rain without getting wet.
*Espio hints that she's a hellava lot more than a bartender; we learn
that her travels might outdo those of Gelae and Moraine.
*the clue from chapter 13 continues in this chapter
*one of my favourite chapters =). Hey, I don't have a girlfriend,
so why not completely make one up! Ha ha ha! I am so cool!
