David Suarez

Originally from Puerto Rico, David began studying the Flute at New World School of the Arts in Miami, under the tutelage of Susan De Gooyer and Barbara Seisel. Currently a student of Dr. Laura Gilbert at The Conservatory of Music at Lynn University, he also studied with Charles Delany at Florida State University. David has performed with the Youth Orchestra of the Americas, Florida Southwest Coast Symphony, the Strauss Symphony of Americas, and has appeared on a public radio broadcast. A first prize winner in the Florida Flute Association Young Artist Competition and finalist in the New York String Seminar, he has participated in master classes with Peter Lloyd, Richard Sherman, Juames Walker and Thadeo Choelo.

Marco Navarrete

Marco was born in West Virginia and began his musical studies at the age of 5 on the piano. When he entered the sixth grade he began the clarinet and later, that same year, switched to the oboe. All throughout middle school and high school he won numerous awards and played with honor ensembles such as North Area Honors Band, All County Honors Band, Festival of Winds, the University of Miami Honors Band and won superior ratings at Solo and Ensemble Festival. After graduating high school, he ventured to the University of Miami to pursue a career in medicine. While at UM, he did more playing than he had anticipated and decided to leave medicine for music. He is now under the tutelage of John J. Dee, principal oboe of the Florida Philharmonic Orchestra and Florida Grand Opera Orchestra, at the Conservatory of Music at Lynn University. Outside of his duties at the Conservatory, Marco is currently the oboist with the Élan Wind Quintet, principal oboe of the Broward Symphony Orchestra, principal oboe of the Gold Coast Opera, freelance player and teacher.

Stanislav Pomerants

Stanislav Pomerants was born in Lithuania, Vilnius where he started his music education and clarinet study in Dvarionas' music school for gifted children. He was one of the members of original "Alia" Jewish band that was well known in Lithuania and abroad. At the age of 15 he was invited to attend the Rubin Conservatory of Music in Jerusalem. In 1993 his family moved to Israel where Mr. Pomerants became a student at the Rubin Conservatory of Music in Jerusalem. In Israel he played clarinet and saxophone in several orchestras and bands such as Jerusalem Saxophones, Youth Alia Orchestra, and Jerusalem Symphonic Orchestra. In 1997 Stanislav was accepted into the Chamber Orchestra of the Israeli Army. Since 2001 Mr. Pomerants has been earning his bachelor's degree in music performance at The Music Conservatory of Lynn University under the instruction of Mr. Paul Green. He was also a founding member of the Élan Wind Quintet.

Margarita Gomez

Margarita Gomez – bassoon, from Miami, Florida, is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Florida International University while still being an active member of their School of Music. Born in Managua, Nicaragua and raised in Miami, Ms. Gomez graduated from the New World School of the Arts high school. Later, she earned her Bachelor of Arts in Music with a minor in Biology from the University of Miami. While at the University of Miami, in 2001, she studied a semester abroad at the Conservatorium von Amsterdam, The Netherlands. In addition, she participated with the University of Miami Chamber Orchestra for a mini-tour of Beijing and Shanghai, China. Ms. Gomez has studied with Luciano Magnanini, Geoffrey Hale, Hank Skolnick and Manuel Zegler in Miami and Jos de Lange from the Royal Concertgebouw in Amsterdam.

Sharon Pomerants

Sharon Pomerants, second horn in the Symphony of the Americas, made the finals this September, 2002 for the Principal horn position of the Palm Beach Opera, and performed in New York at the 2002 Paxman Young Player Horn Competition. This past December Miss Pomerants toured China and Japan with members of the Atlanta Symphony. Miss Pomerants just received her Bachelor's Degree in December from the Conservatory of Music at Lynn University. This year Miss Pomerants began her fourth year as a private instructor of horn at the Pine Crest Preparatory School in Boca Raton, Fl. She was also a founding member of the Elán Wind Quintet that has just completed its first recording. Her passion is reaching out to the community and sharing music with young children.

This past summer Miss Pomerants was a participant at the Henry Mancini Institute in Los Angeles where she studied with Mr. Richard Todd, and performed with Eddie Daniels, Christian McBride, Roy Hargrove, John Clayton, and Bob Belden. In the summer of 2001 she was accepted into the National Orchestral Institute Philharmonic in Maryland and completed her third season with the Manchester Music Festival.

As a student at the New World School of the Arts in Miami, Miss Pomerants received the Most Outstanding Freshman Award and Best Section Player Award. In 1995, Sharon enrolled in the prestigious Interlochen Arts Academy in Interlochen, Michigan. The recipient of an NFAA Arts Award, she also received a full scholarship to Florida State University, later transferring to the Conservatory of Music at Lynn University to study with Mr. Greg Miller of the Empire Brass Quintet. Miss Pomerants has also performed with the Florida Sunshine Pops, the Boca Pops, the Palm Beach Pops, the Miami City Ballet, and the Palm Beach Opera.
