Conulariids have been the center of atention being that no one knows what the hell they are. They aren't that uncommon and they ranged from the Middle Ordovician strait to the Triassic. There are even a few cases in which Conulariid soft parts have been preserved. Although, exactly what they were is still undecided. They lived attached to hard objects by a flexible stalk, and often lived in groups. How they reproduced is unknown.Their skeleton was very different from anything known in the Cnidaria. They may be representitives of a separate, extinct phylum. How can we say any thing about conulariids besides what is already said? |
