Spesix, a crystal found in veins on the sides of mountains and large hills, is
unique. It has almost no Mana in it whatsoever. Everything has at least some
Mana in it, but spesix seems to get the Mana is needs to exist by absorbing it
from its surroundings.
This makes it very easy to store some pattern of Mana in a chunk of spesix. It
can be used to create one-shot items, enhance wepaons and armor, or just about
anything else a wielder of Mana can think of.
Raw spesix is fairly common, found on the side any respectable mountain.
Refining the material is a time-intensive process, taking weeks for a kilo. But
the results can't be argued with, weapons that enchant an enemy as they strike,
or armor that resists the same enchantments, or accessories that can give a
person a second chance at life in a dire battle.
This industry for spesix is one of the main drivers of Terranotos' economy, and
the material itself has saved countless lives - and probably helped end just as
many.
