WHY PAIN IN THE WORLD?
The first reaction of a person when he comes across pain, poverty ,inequality, calamity etc.Is that '' Is there a God in control ?or Is the God a loving God?''.This question presumes that in the world scene there are only two types of players, Man and God. but if we look at the Bible for an answer we find that the players are not two,but three.Man God and Satan. Then is it that everything bad can be attributed to Satan? Not exactly.
According to Bible the world which God created is not the present world .He created the earth with water above and water below. Within that world he created a special garden for a man to live in. There his food was only fruits of the trees. He gave freely all the fruit to eat. They have to just tend the garden. In return he put only one condition.' You must not eat the fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil''. As long as man kept that sole commandment, everything went well.
Everything changed on a day when woman found that what satan had to say [you will not die…..] must be more trust worthy than what God had told them and when man chose to follow God's creation [woman] even though what she did was contrary to God's only commandment. The consequence of man's action are the following: 1.Earth stands cursed. 2 Man had to toil hard for his food. fruits are no longer enough for His food] 3 Nature got suppressed .[Earth will not give its abundance, thorns and thistles might come out.] 4 Woman got additional burdens . 5 Death came into the scene But most important of all is that from that day on man became a dead soul. That is man can no longer stand in the presence of God ,and God is no longer prepared to meet man face to face. Not only that satan got the ruler ship of the world in its day to day affairs [Ref.Luke4:6].Eventhough God remains the final authority. Satan also got the freedom to freely deceive and tempt man.[Gen4;7]
The present world is therefore a fallen world which needs a redeemer. Till it is redeemed sinful man and satan work together to make man's life all the more difficult. Added to that a righteous God cannot tolerate sin is forced to punish men whenever sin crosses tolerable limits.
In the light of this it is not correct to attribute the responsibility for every evil upon God, the creator of heavens and the eatrh. If the questioner expects an answer from a Christian world view, he/she should be prepared to listen to what the Bible has to say about it.
