The title and lyrics come from the song "Shut Up/Kiss Me", written by Paul McDermott, sung by Paul McDermott and Fiona Horne.  I've managed to convert it to mp3, although there are some distortions.  Click here to download it.

Paramounts owns Voyager, yada yada yada...

I was caught by your smile
Under a blushing moon
You were the only one left there
And words poured like wine
Over an open wound
You were the only one left there
With sky born blue grey eyes
Sky born blue grey eyes

Chakotay:

It has been so long since we talked.

We speak often.  We speak of the crew, of the current crisis, of the thousand and one professional concerns which dog our lives.

We no longer speak of our feelings.  Until today.

I don't understand why today is different.  Perhaps you grow weary of being the aloof, untouchable captain.  Or perhaps I've lost my fear of rejection.  Lord knows, I've gotten used to it over the years.

That was a cheap shot.  I control my tongue before the traitor thought slips out and destroys our conversation.  Instead, I make an inane comment about one of the ornaments in your ready room.  You sip your coffee and your eyes meet mine over the rim of the mug. They are laughing.  It is so long since I saw you laughing.

Pale light falls over a broken bed
You were the only one left there
Cold hands in mine
Lips bruised and black
You were the only one left there
With sky born blue grey eyes
Sky born blue grey eyes

Kathryn:

For the first time in too long, we have lingered over our work.  It has become late, we have become relaxed, we talk.

It's as though a dam is breaking inside me.  I'm telling you things I hadn't even thought about in years.

Laughing, you take the coffee mug from my hands and replicate a bottle of wine.  I wonder aloud what Tuvok would think of us, drinking in the ready room.  You flash me a smile I haven't seen since New Earth, bright eyes and boyish dimples.

We move down to my quarters.  We make the walk in silence, but your mere presence beside me makes me tingle.  It is a delicious sensation, one I haven't felt in many years.

I stand before the window, staring at the stars.  You touch my hand, stroking my fingers, caressing my palm.

Shut up and kiss me now
Kiss me now kiss me now
I have been patient
But patience is gone

Chakotay:

Warm kisses, flavoured of wine and the memory of a desperate infatuation.  We thought it was over, faded, gone, but now I realise how wrong we were.

I've imagined this since our early days on Voyager.  I'd thought I'd be unpinning your hair, twining my fingers through the long curls, softening cold, thin lips.  Instead, I'm twisting short locks and kissing your warm, laughing mouth.

This is better than anything I had imagined.

The cool of the night
Fell on us like a ghost
You were the only one left there
I wept as a child wept for the life I'd lost
You were the only one left there
With sky born blue grey eyes

Kathryn:

I'd thought I was remote.  I'd thought I was untouchable. I had created that barrier years ago, knowing full well that you loved me.  I wish I could say that I'd cared about you at the time, but I have many faults and selfishness is one of them.

You kiss me, and I fight to hold back tears.  It's been so long since I even considered cracking through that mask ... what if it's destroyed?  Your kisses break through my self-imposed walls.

Chakotay...

All of my vision has blurred into one

Chakotay:

You whisper my name.  Your eyes are damp, but you're smiling. You grip my hand tightly, as if you're afraid that I'll leave, and lead me into your bedroom.

Shut up just shut up
Just shut up and kiss me now

END
