STICKY DATE PUDDING
(drabble)

July 2000

For some reason, all my drabbles (both of 'em) feature Neelix.  Guess I like the critter.  Still, he does keep his clothes on this time.

"He asked you out?"  Chakotay sounded incredulous, but he didn't stop nuzzling Kathryn's neck.

Kathryn sighed.  "He was very sweet about it.  But I can't help feeling that we should tell the crew about our relationship."

"Maybe ... you and Neelix?!?"

"Never saw him as a threat before?"

Chakotay laughed and kissed her.  "Should I?"

"He is pretty cute..." To her amazement, Chakotay actually looked jealous for a second. "It was hard turning him down."

"Can't get enough of those sexy whiskers?"

Kathryn slapped him playfully.  "No!  It's just ... oh Chakotay, he named a sticky date pudding after me..."

END

(The title came from the Australian series Seachange: Sigrid Thornton's character finds her former lover's recipe book.  Her daughter later finds her sobbing on the kitchen floor: he had named the sticky date pudding after her.  So romantic ... so unique ... so easily associated with Neelix.)
