Rockin' Five Ranch is owned and operated by Nancy and Rich de Coninck Smith. It is located at D'Arcy on the prairies in central Saskatchewan, Canada, near the Alberta border. Elk and Bison have been raised on chemical and fertilizer free pasture land within this 3,000 acre grain farm since 1987. Cereal crops are grown for sale as well as for feed for the animals.
The Velvet Elk herd consist of over 100 Rocky Mountain, Manitoban and Roosevelt elk bulls. The herd bull is a full-blood Manitoban called "Taipan". Taipan consistently produces over 30 lbs of Super "A" velvet. The 30 head cow/calf operation contributes to breeding stock sales, while the bulls are velveted annually for the antler sales. There is a huge demand for meat, however, due to the price of the animals, the availability of meat is limited.
The Bison herd includes a cow/calf operation as well as breeding bulls and meat bulls. The herd sire is "Billy Bob", which is a half brother to the infamous "Mr. Big". (Documentation is kept on each animal to help produce the strongest genetics possible.)
Rockin' Five Ranch sells breeding stock for both elk and bison. We supply consultation in regards to starting up in the business, planning facilities and acquiring proper equipment. This includes state of the art chutes, handling facilities, feed supplements, gates, scales, fence, fence posts and any other needs. We can also help market animals, velvet, meat or any other products you have available.
