Our place.
A Short Bio
I was born in Montreal, the youngest of three.
My early school years were spent at Van Horne Elementary and Northmount
High. I continued on to University at
McGill where I earned a B.Sc. in Psychology and Genetics.
In 1970, I graduated, got married, and moved to Edmonton. There, I worked
on a professional diploma in Education and followed it with a Masters
degree in
Educational Psychology. Upon graduation I began to work as an instructional
designer at Athabasca University.
Ten years later, I left Edmonton, my marriage, and my job and headed off
into the sunset to Vancouver.
After a year at the Open Learning Institute
in Vancouver I moved to Hornby Island and lived there for a few years
before doing extended travel in Greece,Turkey, Europe and North Africa.
In 1986, I married a Turkish man and returned to Canada. The following
summer, I had Errol and have, since his birth, been raising him on my
own.
I quite enjoy computers in general and web page design in particular.
Our first computer was a Commodore 64! I challenge myself to learn new
computer applications. My latest is Flash.
In my extra curricular time, you can find me at our new pool with the
swim fit group or I am active doing mountain biking or road rides.
In winter, I volunteer on the local ski hill (Mount
Washington), skiing and snowboarding. I am a member of the Disabled
Skiers Association of British Columbia, which is the provincial associate
of the Canadian Disabled
Ski Association. We work with people who's abilities to ski are challenged.
It is a great program with wonderful people. The picture below is of Showna
and I.(It was just her third day on the sit ski!)
My greatest desire now is to return to education and teaching. When
I was younger I went on to a Master's degree and did not get a chance
to teach. Now that my boy is a teenager, I miss those younger years and
I know I would have alot to offer children and make a meaningful contribution
to their personal growth and development.
