Happy Thanksgiving to all my U.S. readers...

Link of the Month

Each month, a specially selected and researched link that either stands out for it's humor (!) or it's actually worth a read, usually to do with Merida and/or its environs...

"Yucatan has two types of climate, the warm sub wet, that encompasses 90% of its territory, where the pluvial rainfall and the hosiery temperatures are of 1,150 mm and 26º C. And the warm semi dry, with smaller pluvial rainfall and that corresponds to the band coastal, in the north of the state."

Hosiery temperatures? Are they sticking thermometers in peoples underwear? Now that's tourism promotion! Just translate hosiery back into spanish and you'll see where that came from...

This fine example of excellent translation, and many more like it, can be found at www.tourbymexico.com a true spell-o-phile's paradise.

And if you can't understand all this english, resulting in your getting upset with the author and foreigners in general, try reading the equally critical page on life in Merida written by one of it's more observant inhabitants... the famous X'tabay!
