T'is the season of the "holy week" or Semana Santa, a time when many well-off Yucatecans who practice the Catholic faith (and there are quite a few who loudly profess to doing so) print up some snazzy T-shirts, wear fashion-coordinated shorts and headgear along with the Oakley sunglasses and a prominent gold cross around their neck, and head off into the pueblos surrounding Merida to "spread the word" and shower the villagers with brotherly love.
