After deciding to walk up the road (sans luggage), we found ourselves on a typical African road, tarmac for a while then back to the thick, red dust surface that gets everywhere. After walking through a couple of villages and getting mobbed by hordes of kids who were amazed to find out the mzungus had legs that worked, we stopped for a look around. A car pulled up alongside us and contained a German bloke who had borrowed a taxi from the airport. Apparently, the regular driver wasn't using it! He gave us a lift down to Bujagali Falls, where we got our first look at the Speke Camp, a backpackers right on the banks of the Nile and next to Bujagali Falls. To say we fell in love with the place is a bit like saying the UK is a bit wet and rainy. This place is gorgeous. So, after our first view, we decided that this was the place to stay for a while. |
