My Peace I give unto you

Christians are likewise instructed to set aside a portion of their income for God's work. In 1 Corinthians 16:2, we read: "On the first day of every week, each one of you should set aside a sum of money in keeping with his income, saving it up, so that when I come no collections will have to be made." This refers to tithes and offerings being set aside weekly, ready for the day of worship as a sweet-smelling sacrifice to God.

We must remember that learning to be content with basic needs is the key to our freedom from financial difficulties.

THIRD, let us learn and try to live life one day at a time.

In Psalm 91:16, the Lord says, "With long life I will satisfy him...." This is God's Will, but most of us don't live to a ripe old age because we tend to live life weeks, months, and even years in advance. In Matthew 6:11, Jesus Christ taught us the model prayer which says, "Give us today our daily bread." Christ instructs us to ask for our daily bread and not for a weekly or monthly supply of bread. This is because He wants us to be dependent on Him for our daily needs. But because we are worried about what we will eat, drink, and what we will use in the future, we tend to live our lives several months ahead. In Matthew 6:34, the Lord says: "Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own." Let us live one day at a time, and we will have peace and contentment. God will bless us with long life, according to His promise in Psalm 91.

FOURTH, let us live according to the Golden Rule.

Our Lord Jesus Christ says, "Do for others what you want them to do for you..." (Matthew 7:12). When we do something good for somebody, something good always returns to us, and we experience satisfaction. Thus, following this principle, if we want to be loved, let us share the love of the Lord that is in us; if we want to be forgiven, let us forgive others; if we need understanding, let us offer our understanding to others; if we want to receive blessings, let us establish the habit of giving. Remember that we are blessed materially and spiritually not only for our own personal gain, but also to enable us to share these blessings with our brothers and sisters in the faith. In 2 Corinthians 9:11, St. Paul says, "He will always make you rich enough to be generous at all times, so that many will thank God for your gifts which they receive from us." Furthermore, in Matthew 25:40, the Lord says: "I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of Mine, you did it for Me." So, rejoice! If we've shared our blessings with others, we have done it for our Lord Jesus Christ. And He will return it to us "...good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over..." (Luke 6:38) for with the same measure that we use, it will be measured back to us.

FIFTH, let us be thankful always.

In 1 Thessalonians 5:18, we read, "...in everything give thanks; for this is the Will of God in Christ Jesus for you." The best prayer that we can say everyday is "Thank you, Lord!" Let us always give thanks and praises to the Lord our God whatever the circumstances—whether we are experiencing joy or undergoing trials and sufferings— because He is the Source of our strength and joy. He is our Defender and Protector, and He helps us in times of need. Therefore, let us trust in the Lord with all our heart.

"Give thanks to the Lord, call on His Name; make known among the nations what He has done. Sing to Him, sing praise to Him; tell of all His wonderful acts. Glory in His Holy Name; let the hearts of those who seek the Lord rejoice" (Psalm 105:1-3).
