Effect: The magician shows a dice to be ordinary, then offers it to a spectator to roll onto the table. Magic begins to happen when the magician makes the spots appear and disappear from the dice. The spectator may examine the dice at any time.
Secret: This is a quick little ditty that I perform when I visit people that have dice laying around. It uses a variation of an age old secret in magic called the "paddle move".

Handling & Presentation: First of all you should have the knowledge that nomatter what is rolled on the dice, the top and bottom will always equal seven. This is a little known fact that is employed in this trick and many others. Once the dice has been rolled (let's say a three is on top), glance down at the back number (the side facing you, let's say it is a six).

With the spectators are directly in front of you. Pick up the dice between your forefinger and thumb. As you swing it straight up off the table, roll the dice backwards one-quarter turn (fig 1). This will show the back (six) number to your audience and they will assume it to be the bottom number of the dice. When you place it back on the table, reverse the turn putting things back the way they were. To you spectators it seems you have simply picked up the dice, showed them the bottom, and replaced it onto the table.

Since the three is on top we know that a four is actually on the bottom, so the rest is simply a matter of acting. Claim that you will remove two of the spots from the six, make a magical pass with your hands, then lift the dice in the same manner as before except this time don't roll it backwards (fig 2). You will be showing the actual bottom of the dice (the four). Two spots have magically disappeared. You can add and subtract spots on the bottom of any dice once you have practiced these few simple moves.
