so much Shakespeare I think I'm going to be sick.

Troubling news has come to my attention as of late. Apparently, things are falling apart back home, people are going absolutely crazy, and it makes me ill to think about it. Hate crimes? Really? In my Toronto? My sweet, innocent, lovely Toronto? The Toronto that plays such a prominant part in my daydreams? This is hard to believe. This is distressing.

Also troubling is the fact that this has been going on for almost a month and I was entirely oblivious. Most likely this is because I read the Globe and Mail, which is a national paper, and not the Toronto Star, which is a shitty, self-referential GTA paper, and because, even when I am looking for news of home, I'm reading the international section to see what the home perspective is, or the national section, but never the GTA section. And, okay, yeah, sometimes I also read Leah McLaren's column, I admit. It's a hard habit to break, okay? I want to be free of her brainless articles, but I always get sucked in anyway. Maybe I actually enjoy the irritation she causes. What? Stranger things have happened.

So here's the deal, folks: someone needs to keep me informed of stuff like this. Or at least, someone needs to remind me to read The Star every once in a while, so I don't miss out on another huge news story. I didn't even know that 7-year old girl had been found until a few days later, and that even got some attention in the UK papers.

Finally, and to cap off this news-fueled entry, did anyone catch my girl Lara on tv yesterday? She was on The National, for heaven's sake! How great is that? I tell you, she gets more and more famous each day. Soon I'll have to schedule hangout time with her, and she'll have a staff doing her hair and nails, and I'll have to call her people, and everything. That's awesome.

In conclusion, today was all about the links, and not about the real thoughts or the intelligent commentary. Also, I am stupid and I need someone to look after me. Could that someone be you?
