Above pictures were taken on 12 September 1999

When Emperor was 2 months old:

Still a new puppy in the neighborhood. At this stage of his age (2 months old), he was like any other puppies, full of energy and waiting to be trained with basic commands.  :o) Just to mind you again, Emperor is my first dog and needless to say, this is of course my first ever experience in training a dog.

The first thing that he was needed to be taught was to recognized his own name. Luckily he's from the highly trainable Labrador Retriever breed.

Looking back on Emperor’s reaction to his name:

In the first two weeks, we do not expect Emperor to get fond to his new name yet. During the first two week (approx), he’d showed no response when his name was called.

With books in hand, I learnt a few tips on how to teach dogs to react to their new name. As described in books, a dog that has been taught to reacts to his own name is very much prepared to proceed to learn the basic commands.

I managed to trained Emperor to get fond to his name by consistently calling upon his name on every feeding time. This simple training method works effectively. He'll always come running whenever he heard his name being called.

Looking back on those troubled nights:

I remember the most-troubled first two weeks where Emperor used to pooped in his “palace” in the middle of the night for almost everyday in his first two weeks in our house.

After every pooped, he’s absolutely not pleased with his dirtied “palace”. He just can’t fell asleep, and as if he knew he was named EMPEROR and the meaning behind this name, he'd barks and barks and barks to call on his servant (the servant is me of course). Gosh! It happens mostly at around 2 to 3am and sometimes at 5am where all my family members were sound asleep.

His calls always alerted me, as I was almost like expecting his calls (hmm...pity me). Anyway, it’s my duty to make him feels as comfortable as possible. I always let him out of his dirtied "palace" because sometimes I ‘d need to carry the whole crate into the toilet to have it cleaned.

While I was doing the cleaning in the toilet, he’d wandering around the quiet living room where the rest of the family members were asleep. Sometimes if he’s too tired, he wouldn’t want to wander, he'd just sit neared to me and watch me cleaning his “palace”.

It only takes less than 10 minutes to get his “palace” cleaned. The good thing was, he’s always willingly to get right back into his cleaned "palace" to continue his sleep, and of course, I always remembered to turn on his favorite fan.

Maybe I'm too glad to have him, it really didn’t bother me much about cleaning up the mess in the middle of the night because it's my duty to take care of his hygiene.

Thanks for reading.

Well, that's all for months two of Emperor's life. More of his beautiful pictures on next page. Also, reads what he has learned at 3-month-old.
