The quality and quantity of these projects were determined not to be sufficient to continue with the judging process for this cycle, resulting in the related clause found in the guidelines being invoked. As difficult as this decision was to reach, it was considered best for all concerned.

This entire process is geared around advancing writer careers and identifying writers and projects for Hollywood. To go forward in these efforts with projects that don't merit the attention, would be a misapplication of resources all around. All entering writers might make good use of the extensive guidance found at this site, as its application could well advance a determined writer's career. Had more quarterfinalists done so prior to resubmission, the overall result might have been different.

All quarterfinalists above may submit their projects for a free professional critique ($250 value), dependent on adherence to resubmission guidelines. Applied to 50 quarterfinalist projects, the value of this offer totals $12,500 compared to the $4,000 in cash prizes originally promised (contingent on quality of submissions).

Thank you to all who entered the Fifth Annual Contest, and all the best with your writing careers.
