Here is a listing of the Events that need the support of you, your

- The Canandaigua AFGE has purchase 150 radio announcements that
will keep the public aware and thinking about the impact of closing
the Canandaigua Veterans Administration Medical Center. The can be
heard on the radio station affiliated with The Finger Lakes Radio
Network.

- On September 1st the Rochester Labor Day Parade will be held in
Rochester, New York. The Labor Organizations have invited the employees ,
their families and the veterans of Rochester to participate in the parade
which will focus on the proposed closure of the Canandaigua VA making it thefocus of the parade. Come out and give us your support.
Mark your Calanders
A community rally to oppose the closing of the VA hospital is planned for Saturday, Sept. 6, at 10 a.m. at the hospital on Fort Hill Avenue. Bikers also plan to run a convoy from Monroe County to Syracuse Friday, Sept. 19, when the Capital Asset Realignment for Enhanced Services Commission discusses VA plans.
On September 11th the Canandaigua AFGE Officers have been invited
to participate in a live talk show which will be carried on the
stations in
the Finger
Lakes Radio Network to discuss the proposed closure of our facility
and its impact on our veterans, their families and the economy of the
Finger Lakes. Join in and make your opinion count.
On September 19th the Cares Commission will hold the local
hearing in Syracuse at the Marx Hotel the leadership to the opposition to the closing of the Canandaigua VAMC has called for a
massive show of support for the veterans in our care. Senator Clinton has echoed
that call to arms. We need to show the VISN, the Department of
Veterans Affairs that we will not go quietly into the night.
The
hearing is scheduled for the 19th of September at the Marx Hotel and Conference Center, 701 E. Genesee St. in
Syracuse,starting at 1 p.m.
- The National Chapter of the American Federation of Government Employees
is developing a national strategy to fight the proposed closures of all the
facilities affected by the CARES Commission it will be working closely with
our local chapter, the Congress and our local officials to stop this
injustice to the veterans we serve. Check back here frequently to keep
