Riven:
The Sequel To Myst
Released: Oct 30th, 1997
Developer: Cyan Worlds
Original Publisher: Red Orb
Website: Riven
Enter a deceptively beautiful world torn apart by age-old conflicts...
where secrets lie hidden at every turn... and nothing is as it seems.
You must search. You must explore. You must summon every spark of intellect
and intuition. Only then will you learn the truth about this troubled
land and its inhabitants. You must let Riven become your world - before
an entire world is lost.
Riven: The Sequel To Myst continues where the original left off,
and thrusts the player into a brand new, huge world, full of some of the
hardest puzzles found in any of the Myst games. It is also very
rewarding - Riven expands the plot of Myst and adds a great
deal of backstory regarding Atrus' father, Gehn, the world of Riven, and
the long-dead empire of D'ni.
Like Myst, Riven is played in a slide-show format. However,
the sequel features a much more dynamic world, with countless animating
scenes, including, in many locations, animated water. The game also features
a huge amount of full-motion and live-action video, including many "rides"
the player can take, and speeches by many of the major characters. The
entire game originally shipped on 5 CD-ROMs, due to its size. Later it
was re-released on a single DVD-ROM.
In Riven, the player is called back to D'ni by Atrus, who asks
you to enter the Age of Riven to trap his estranged father Gehn, and rescue
his beloved wife Catherine. The only way out is to complete Atrus' requests,
because unlike the Ages of Myst, it is Gehn who holds all the keys.

Location Names in Riven
I've included this section because there has been much confusion
over the years as to the names of the islands and Ages in Riven.
Many walkthroughs and websites have different names for these places.
There is not really a "correct" answer for most of these places,
since the names are not displayed anywhere in the game. However, these
names are the ones I think are most correct.
Warning! Contains Riven spoilers!
