Madison is only 35 miles from us and has zillions of things to see and do. There are museums, a zoo, theaters and a huge playroom of climbing tubes and games called the Discovery Zone--that is the greatest time a kid can have! There are almost always fairs, celebrations or demonstrations going on at the Capital Square and in the summer every Saturday morning the whole square is a large farmers market. We like to go and buy honey and fresh flowers or just visit with the people.

The Capital building is beautiful and looks very much like the National Capital building in Washington DC. When you first walk into it there is a huge round room with paintings on the walls and ceiling about Wisconsin's history. If you lay on your back and look up that is the best way to see the art on the ceiling. Even adults do it as long as it isn't really crowded!
