~Wish Upon A Star~

Have you ever heard the expression 'wish upon a star', and thought that is was a load a nonsense? Well this is a true story of how the expression came to be.

It all started in the little Italian town, in Lombardia (a region near the top of Italy), called Miraculious. In this town lived a little boy called Sebastian, and a little girl called Antoinette. They were twins and were the best of friends.

One day in school the children were given a project. They had to come up with a story. Sebastian and Antoinette were so excited, they had big plans for their story. That day as they were walking home, Antoinette began to tell Sebastian her ideas, but he would not tell her, his.
"Fine, then", said Antoinette, who dearly wanted to become a writer, "Just because my story will be better than yours!"
"Yeah right", replied Sebastian, "Its a bet that mine wins the competition!".
"And I bet that mine will", said Antoinette.

For the next two weeks, the children would work on their stories every spare minute they had. Until finally the day came for them to present their stories to the teacher.

Sebastian's won, but Antoinette's didn't even come in the top 10. Antoinette was so disappointed that she ran out of the classroom and far up into the woods. She was sad and didn't care how scary the woods were. Antoinette sat, thinking for hours, until by accident she fell asleep under a huge tree.

Sebastian was devastated. He never meant to hurt his sister, the one who was the most important thing to him in the world! That night Sebastian sat by his window and looked out. He saw the brightest star and said, "Wish I may, wish I might, I wish Antoinette would come home tonight". Then he closed his window and lie in his bed, eventually falling asleep.

In the middle of the night, Antoinette woke up. She was scared and didn't know the way home. Suddenly she saw a bright light in the sky. It was the same star as Sebastian wished on. She was caught looking at it and followed it, until without realising, she was home.

Joyfully she ran inside. Her parents were overjoyed, and Sebastian was extremely happy! And from that day on he passed on the tradition of wishing on a star, because if you want that wish so badly, then it shall come true.
