These are photos of the Hope diamond from the Smithsonian Museum. Somehow, I had visions of a much larger stone, but it was quite a piece of jewelry.

This was a display that was underconstruction at the Smithsonian.

Okay, now it is time for a little fun...

Is this a near death experience or a photo taken from the bottom of the escalator at the Dupont Circle subway station? You decide. (Hint: The answer may depend on whether or not the escalators are working.)

This was when I was invited to brief the nation on some national security issues from the Pentagon. (You did see this on TV, right?)

For a couple of us this was our first time to fly on a plane. I just had to snap a photo as the plane took a little detour over Iceland. See the ocean and icebergs? (okay, so they were just clouds...use your imagination)
