Cameron's Flat Stanley had a great time Christmas caroling and eating pizza. He got his shoes muddy becuase of all the rain there was! He returned to Seneca on December 20.
Chris' Flat Stanley is having a great time in Santa Barbara, CA! He went shopping with Chris' aunt and got some new "California clothes" including a pair of fuzzy spotted leopard slippers. He ate at a vegetarian restaurant and went to the Wharf on the Pacific Ocean. At the restaurant, he met some of the workers and they didn't speak very much English. They spoke Spanish. He learned to say "Mi llamo es Stanley." (My name is Stanley.) He also ate "buffalo wings" with his hostess. He really knew they were chicken wings, but he didn't want to hurt his hostess' feelings, so he just ate them, but he KNOWS that buffalos don't have wings. He learned to say "Cool!" because that is how they talk in CA and he wanted to fit in. He even saw a bus with antlers. Then, there was the doggie-school! All the owners had their dogs on leashes and they had to sit there and be still. Then they would run through tunnel and jumps one at a time. One of the most interesting people Stanley met here is a boy who is deaf, but he has a piece of equipment that helps him to hear. He had an operation and the doctors put a piece of equipment in his head just behind his ear. Now he can hear, but he is learning to talk. Then he went to visit the Mission. It is like a huge church. It has bells on top and statues of the saints, and Jesus and Mary. The Santa Barbara Mission was built in 1786 so that Catholics would have a place to pray and travelers would have a safe place to stay at night. It is made out of adobe bricks. One of the last places he went was a sushi restaurant. He ate sushi, shrimp tempura, a California roll, and green tea. He liked it! He learned not to say he didn't like something before he tasted it, because some things look really funny, but they taste great!
Jacob's Flat Stanley has been visiting in Oklahoma with Jacob's grandma. He has been working with her in the real estate office. He enjoyed a walk in the woods. It was really pretty, but they didn't see any deer. However, they did see some squirrels. He took a shopping trip to Tulsa. Just before he returned home to Seneca, he went to church and took one more look in the toy department at Wal-Mart. It was December 15 when he arrived in Seneca.
