Cool Princess Court

The Cool Princess Court was an event related to the Rose Queen Contest that is held for girls every year where the Queen rides in the parade.

Well, ours was a little different.

In the Cool Princess Court, we had a contest for girls ages 3-9 to try out to become Princesses. Then, one lucky winner would be crowned the Queen. Each girl was to recite a poem, and sing a song in front of an audience. The girls would, one by one, start the first half of the contest with their poem, then wait for all the other girls to finish theirs. Each girl also had a representive to help them do their best. At the end, each girl was crowned a Princess of Roses and we'd have a refreshment time for the audience while all the Princesses changed into their new dresses and shoes and given their scepter or bouquet.

In part two, it was time for the Princesses to try out for the "Queen of Roses." In this part each Princess would sing their song and be judged on bravery in front of people. Who ever got the highest score for courage would be crowned the New Queen Of Roses!!!! There were two people asked to be judges. They would grade each Princess privately and then compare notes at the end to see who had the most points

We also would have the old Princesses from the year before, come up and sing at the beginning of the contest. They would take off their crowns and put them on the new Princess's heads, as one by one, each girl's name was called.

The Queen of last year's cool court would announce who the new Rose Queen was and then crown the "New Cool Court Queen Of Roses!!!!" We didn't have a parade, but, the Queen would receive a new dress, dressy shoes, the Queen's scepter, and best of all, the "Certificate Of Achievment"! We would then present the Queen to the audience in her Majesty's royal outfit and everyone always clapped!!!!

We video taped the contests in 1996 and 1997 and took lots of pictures!!! We didn't have the equipment in 1995.

Here are 3 scrapbook pages to look at, one for each year. We didn't do anymore Cool Courts after this.

We enjoyed each one though and always loved to dress the girls up. Some years we had the girls dress in wedding gowns and modle for the audiance which both the girls and the audiance really enjoyed. The picture at the top is one of them.
