Later the family moved to Lodz, Poland. He came to the United States in 1902, first working in silk mills in Patterson, N.J. After a heart attack, his doctor advised a move to Florida. His brother-in-law, Phillip Morrell, had a grove, so Abe entered the citrus industry in central Florida.(see article at bottom of page) When he moved to Florida he built the Normandy Plaza Hotel in Miami Beach, which was managed by Bea, Flossie and their husbands until WWII. |
