"Another good job done!" cried Wizard Whizz, washing the paint from his hands. The wizard loved making toys and he had just finished a dear Little Wooden Horse. It was white with black spots and it had a red saddle. It had a furry black mane to match the tail. It stood firmly on a blue board which hadfour little yellow wheels; one at each corner so that the Little Wooden Horse could be pulled or pushed along.
But the wizard didn't push or pull. "Off you go now!" he cried, giving the Little Wooden Horse a pat. The Little Wooden Horse rolled happily off through the woods all by itself, and along a winding lane. Then the Little Wooden Horse came upon a lost Teddy Bear, who had given up hope of ever being found. "Hop up!" cried the Little Wooden Horse.
"May I come, too?" squealed a baby rabbit. "I am lost!"
"Of course you can," said the Little Wooden Horse. "Jump up!"
After that they met an owlet who had hurt his wing, a squirrel who had lost her way, a duckling looking for a pond and a hedgehog with a sore toe. All of them rode ofn the back of the Little Wooden Horse. The clever little horse took to where the should have been so that none were lost or sad anymore
The End.
Sammy watched his mother open a book of bedtime stories.
"What kind of story would you like to tonight, Sammy?" she asked. " I would like to hear one with every word beginning with the letter S for Sammy!" he said. Sammy did not think that his mother would know one, but this is the story she told him.
Sally saw Sam Sausage sawing some slender sticks. "Stop, silly Sam!" said she. "Such small stuff should snap satisfactorily. Suppose such strong saws slipped? Sausage skin soon severs!" Silly Sam stood still, smiling saucily, so still Sally scolded. Suddenly she stopped speaking. "SPLOSH!"
spluttered Sam. Sam's shiny skin split suddenly so several sausages stood sideways! "Splendid!" smiled Sally. "Several sausages superior! Single sausages such small snack!"
This story has been brought to you by the letter "S".
