Valentine Magnets with Cinnamon Dough
Materials Needed
Large mixing bowl
applesauce
cinnamon
wax paper
cookie cutters
ribbons, paint, etc.
|
This is a great idea for Valentine heart magnets.
1. Mix about equal parts of applesauce and cinnamon.
2. Add cinnamon until the dough is stiff, and not sticky.
3. Refrigerate.
4. When ready to use, roll out onto wax paper that has been sprinkled with more cinnamon powder to keep it from sticking.
5. Cut it out with cookie cutters.
6. Let it air dry or dry in SLOW oven. If it dries too fast it will crack. Decorate as desired.
7. Put magnets on the back for their fridge.

Crafty Kids Magazine - Winter 2000 issue
Fill a gift bag with suckers you make in your kitchen!
1. Unwrap candy and place in a zip lock plastic bag.
2. Wrap plastic bag in dish towel and then pound carefully with mallet.
3. Pour pieces of candy into the metal cookie cutters that have been placed on a cookie sheet.
4. Bake at 350 F for 6 - 8 minutes.
5. Have a parent take the pan out of the oven.
6. Let the pan sit for a few seconds before removing cookie cutters.
7. Lift the cutters straight up with a pair of tongs and place in a bowl of warm water.
8. Quickly add sticks to warm suckers.
9. Let suckers cool on pan or place in the freezer until hard.
10. Suckers can be wrapped in wax paper or colored plastic wraps, but I prefer using plastic candy/treat bags and tying it closed with a piece of curling ribbon.
