Road Trip - Sunday
Introduction

Saturday

I must admit that we didn't get up with the birds Sunday morning. By the time we'd had breakfast, cleaned up and struck camp, it was around 11 or 12 o'clock. Anyway, once we were ready, we piled back into the car, and started the journey home.

First stop on the way back was Hartley, a very historic town. We had a good look at the old sandstone buildings. I was very disappointed to find that there weren't any apples or apple cider for sale (next time I guess).
Here's Lesley and Sally standing outside the courthouse at Hartley

When we reached Blackheath, we headed down to Govett's Leap for a bit of a 'look-see'. The scenery was spectacular! Cliff faces and valley stretching into the distance.
At Katoomba Sally managed to navigate successfully to Echo Point. Finding a parking spot was a lot of fun. We ended up parking in a tourist bus parking spot (but we were quick so it didn't matter). It was amazing to see the three sisters when they weren't shrouded in fog (usually you can't see them). They look really beautiful when the sun is shining. I hope all the tourists that were there appreciated how lucky they were with the weather
Here they are again at Govett's Leap.

Our next and final stop was Leura. Poor Lesley had never been to the lolly shop there. It's an amazing lolly shop. They sell any kind of candy you can think of - from humbugs to Dutch licorisch. We stocked up (luckily they have EFTPOS), and headed to the takeaway store for some lunch. We ate our chicken and chips on the nature strip in the middle of the main street. The grass was a bit wet, but it was fun watching all the people walk past.

With our tummies full we hopped back into the car for the last time, and started the rest of the journey home. The traffic was terrible for part of it, but once we left the route to Sydney it got better.

It was a great weekend, partly because we could go and stay anywhere we wanted. We're already starting to plan a similar adventure some time next year.
