The Eastman Kodak Company launched an new camera called the Brownie. It was easy to carry around and for the first time the film could be unloaded and sent to be developed. The camera cost one dollar, but the film cost twenty-five dollars for one hundred pictures, and reloading cost two dollars.

 Queen Victoria, crowned when she was 18 years old in 1838, died at the age of 81 on 22 January, 1901. She reigned for 63 years and was the longers reign in the British monarch. She married Price Albert in 1840 and gave life to 9 children. Many of the children were part of the European royal families. She loved to dance and had many gala events until the death of her husband. She wore black from that time on and stayed much to herself.

President William McKinley died on 14 September 1901 when shot by an assassins bullet at the Fair in Buffalo, New York eight days earlier. The President is the third President to be murdered. His Vice President, Theodore Roosevelt was summoned but arrived to late to see the President, and was sworn in 12 hours after President McKinley died.

President Theodore Roosevelt on October 16th, 1901, invited Booker T. Washington to dine at the White House. Washington, born a slave, believed in education for uniting Blacks and Whites. Washington became the first Black Principal when a college opened in 1881. He fast became recognized as  the leader of Black Americans.
  
 On 10 December 1903, Marie Curie is the first woman to win the Nobel Prize for her work with radioactivity and elements like thorium, polonium, and radium. She shares the Prize with husband Pierre and Henri Becquerel.

Helen Keller at a young age was stricken by an illness that left her deaf and blind and couldn't talk. Because of her disability, a teacher, Ann Sullivan would teach her how to read and write braille. Strive to learn all that she could she attended Horace Mann School then she went to college and earned a degree, proving that you can accomplish your dreams no matter your handicap.

Albert Einstein introduces the Theory of Relativity to the world through a book he wrote called "Special Relativity. He maintains that that there is no such thing as absolute time or motion but the the speed of light is absolute. Thus he came up with the equation E=mc(squared), where E equals energy, m equals motion and c is the speed of light. Einstein was born in Germany and educated to become a physicist.
  
 |   Lord Robert Baden-Powell, after fighting in the Boer War, formed the Boy Scouts. He wanted to teach boys to become good citzens and instilled in them a sense of duty, unselfishness and discipline. He took 20 boys to Brown Sea Island and formed the first Scout Troop on 29 July, 1907. Here they learned outdoor skills, lifesaving skills, first aid and survival in the wilderness. At the end of camp, family members and other interested in what he was doing, came to see the events that the boys had learned in the time that he had them on the Island. Everyone was so impressed and the birth of the scouting movement began.

On October 1st, 1908, Henry Ford introduces the Model T. The car cost $850.00 and was affordable to many people. Mr. Ford started a manufacturing assemble line to help produce the car much faster. The Model T is only available in black and in 1908 over 8,000 cars were manufactured.
  
The Lightning Benz though in England broke all speed records in 1909. A French driver called Vicotr Hemery drove over 127 miles per hour proving that gasoline cars have more advantage over steam-powered cars. The Benz was made in Mannheim, Germany.
