ITHILIEN & ISENGARD, Middle Earth—The Caribou swept their double-header against the Ithilien Rangers and the Uruk-Hai, bringing their regular season record to 12-3-4.

The first match against the Rangers was a close, througout with both teams playing tight defence.

Merry broke through late in the first period bouncing the puck off the Ranger goalie's...goalie pants.

"I don't know what happened," he said. "But it was really, really cool!"

Faramir scored the equalizer two mintues later. The sons of Denethor managed to keep civil throughout the duration of the game.

Both defences clamped down and the score remained tied at the end of regulation.

Then Frodo took over.

The Caribou left wing grabbed a Strider pass, flew down the boards and lifted the puck over the goalie's shoulder. He celebrated by singing a Spice Girls song in a helium voice. This was the Caribou's first win in overtime this season.

Amazingly, not a single penalty was called and the entire match lasted two hours including overtime.

Gandalf made 29 saves in the win.

The Caribou's next game against the Uruk-Hai wasn't as pleasant since the shower facilites at Isengard had been flooded. Apparantly the ents were a bit miffed at not being added to the expansion team. The end result was a team of Uruk-Hai who hadn't showered in a week.

"This is uncivilized," said defence-elf Legolas who wore a gas mask for the game. "This is absolutely intolerable. I object on every level possible."

Nonetheless, the Caribou soldiered on, gagging occasionally and winning 1-0.

Pippin scored the only goal of the game off a slap shot from the point.

"I didn't want to go near the goalie," he explained. "He smelled. He smelled bad."

The Uruk-Hai had a goal waved off late in the second as the goal had become dislodged before the puck crossed the line.

Gandalf made 18 saves.

The Caribou finish the season against the Riders of Rohan in Rohan. The playoffs and the yet to be scheduled exhibition game against the Harry Potter people will begin soon.
