Overview

  • Thieves in 3 phrases: Sneaky, backstabbers, poison experts,
  • Good things about thieves: Unique class great for single-classers and even better for remorts. Irritate the heck out of all the non-thieves in wars and PK, and a useful bunch of poisons to ruin the enemy's HR/DR, vision, and even HP (yes, I'm talking about balor :) The other class everyone should get by the 3rd remort!
  • Bad things about thieves: Unlike the other "combination" classes, they have no healing spells, yet they have fewer attacks than warriors at noble levels.
    While backstab is really something to be feared, you still only get one hit on mobs with it, and usually can't even use it on smart players, whereas that grunting warrior is hitting you with 7 attacks every round.

Okay, let's cheat, thieves are so unique it doesn't matter where you came from or where you're going, just grab these 10 skills. :) And if you want me to chose just 5, YOU try it first. :P

Gaining Tips

Danged, after that humongous list above, do you really expect me to pick and choose groups? Gain them all! At only 45 CPs, Thief Default is, once again, the way to go.
For you cheapskates, create with Street Fighting(15CPs), Poisons (15CPs), and Weaponsmaster(3 CPs)
Add on burglar training, and make sure you get Assassin training by level 23(backstab :). The only truly essential spell in Criminal magic is pass door, which you can get in Burglar training, so if you aren't bothered, and don't need rejuvenate or the detect spells, leave it alone.
