You walk slowly into the overwhelming light of the moons, their eerie blue glow seems to stream across the entire weyrbowl. You walk to a weyr entrance you've been meaning to look at, noting the small blue designs on the stone outside it's entrance. Strange, you think, peering inside. Soft light streams through, inviting you inside and away from the darkness. A figure silhouetted by the light turns your way, saying. "Hello traveller, please come in. Joelen is sleeping, but I'll wake him for you." the figure says, moving gracefully out of sight. You walk into the large weyr, looking around. The walls are the most magnificent shade of blue with white dots as stars and beautiful circles as the moons painted on it.

The figure comes back, showing herself to you as Casey, the short young woman in the weyr next to this one. "I'm just helping Joelen settle in, he's a really nice guy." she says, blushing slightly. She coughs, trying to change the subject. "So what brings you here, traveller? Especially at such a late hour?" she says, a blush beginning to appear again. You tell her that you were just visiting the candidates in this area. "Oh, I see. Well, feel free to come visit me anytime! I should really be going now. It is..rather late.." she says, smiling before she hurries out of the weyr.

A soft chuckle comes from the other end of the weyr, and you turn to see who it is. A tall young man stands leaning against his beautifully painted walls, his dark brown hair falling absently across his gentle green eyes. You think he looks about 18 turns old. "I'm sorry about Casey traveller, she can be a little shy at time. Yes, she is my mate, she was just helping me move my things to the weyr next to hers. Oh, won't you sit down? I'm sure you're rather tired." he says in his deep voice, motioning for you to sit. You take up his offer, thinking he's right..you are tired. What a night, you think. He smiles softly, pulling a chair close to you and sits down.

"My name's Joelen, but most everybody calls me Joel. Which can be rather confusing, since the Weyrwoman's name is Jewel." he laughs, then continues, "Truely, my full name is Joelen Bidish, Casey likes to call me Jb. I'm the kennel keeper at Sapphire Weyr, but I was born and raised at Fort Hold. My father was the kennel keeper there, and he tough me how to take care of a canine properly. My mother was a cook there, but she was a very sweet lady. I spent a lot of time helping her when I wasn't helping father at the kennel. I was their only child, my mother almost died when she gave birth to me. So they gave me all thier love." he says, laughing gently as you begin to fall over. "I think you should rest traveller, you can stay here if you'd like." Joelen says, motioning to the human sized bed. You shake your head, insisting he goes on.

"Well, alright," he continues. "I was a pesky little brat when I was just a boy, and I got into quite a bit of trouble." you laugh, remembering your days as a child. "The headwoman would always scold me for taking food I shouldn't have or pestering the older folk. So when searchdragons came looking for candidates, she hurriedly pushes me infront of the rest of the boys. I landed on a bronze's snout too! He snorted loudly and his rider burst out laughing. The dragon told me I was a very brave boy and that I would become a very good dragonrider. I was thrilled beyond shock, but I somehow managed to race back to my father and mother. They were sad that I'd be leaving them, but they knew it was a great honor to be searched by a dragon. So I packed my things and rode to Sapphire Weyr with the bronze and his rider."

"At the time, the Weyrwoman had just gotten a bunch of canine pups and hadn't the slightest clue as to what to do with them. She was glad when she found out that I had experiance with the little creatures, and immediatly gave me the job of weyr kennel keeper. It's a good job, I think. That's where I met Flash." he says. You raise an eyebrow and look at him. He laughs at your expression, and lets out a loud whistle. A second later, a large, red-brown canine runs full speed from outside his weyr, panting all the way.

"This," he says, pushing the canine away from his face to stop it licking him, "Is Flash. Isn't he a beauty? He's the fastest pup in all Sapphire Weyr, which I'm sure he's proud of." You both laugh when the large canine sits up and seems to smile.

"Well traveller, we both probably need our rest." he says, smiling. A noise outside catches your attention and you look to see what it is. The short, brown haired girl stands at the entrance, smiling sheepishly. "Casey, you're really too shy for your own good!" laughs Joelen, as the girl gets a hurt look on her face. "I am not Joelen! I'm just..quiet." she says, mater-of-factly. "Oh, I'm just telling the truth dear heart." he says, smiling sweetly to her. You decide you should leave them alone, and stand to take your leave. "Wait, traveller, before you go, won't you look at my scrapbooks? They're not that big yet, but they should tell you more about myself if you'd like to know."

You nod your head as the young man points to three, messy looking scrapbooks.

Open the second scrapbook
Open the scrapbook with the canine picture

You close the scrapbooks, smile at the young couple and take your leave, once again entering the warm, southern air, drenched in moonlight.

There's been an impression! Go see!
