In the End of Eternity game the Diplomacy Ability is also used in the brokerage of Prestation. Those kindred who are apt in Diplomacy may make an Opposed Social Challenge versus another vampire to lower the burden of debt or to convince the subject that the matter before them is of a greater importance and thus involves a higher rate of return. Basically, any Kindred with this Ability owing a Boon may test to lower it by one level; for example, a Minor Boon can be lowered to a Trivial Boon. On the other hand, they may convince the other party that a Minor issue incurs a Major level of return. This Ability can also be used in negotiations concerning the use of the Allies or Mentor backgrounds. Finally, characters with the Diplomacy Ability are able to diffuse conflict amongst the kindred’s clan and coterie lines by swaying the slighted parties back to the negotiation table without breaching status or protocol on a successful Social Mob challenge.
