Endlers can thrive on many types of food but a combination of them seems to work best.
Flakes
Two types of flakes should be fed to endlers. High protein and vegetable based.
Usually any flake food made for guppies will work well and any herbivore
flake.
Small Pellets
Small pellets like Hikari Guppy food or golden pearls can also work
well for endlers. HBH fry bites can also be used to give adult breeding fish
or larger juvenile fish extra protein.
Live Foods
The best live foods for endlers are micro worms and
newly hatched baby brine shrimp. Larger live foods or
worms will either be so big the endlers will not eat them or the fish may choke
on the worms (yes I have seen it happen).
Freeze dried foods
Freeze dried foods like krill, brine shrimp, tubifix worms etc can be fed if
crushed. Tubifix worms can actually just be stuck to the glass as long as
there are enough fish to eat the portion placed in the aquarium. In their
efforts to pull the dried worms from the glass, they will break off small
pieces to eat so will not choke on these. Freeze dried tablet foods can also
be offered but frequent water changes may be needed as extra food or small
particles the fish do not consume may cloud the water.
Vegetables
Endlers seem to love zucchini. I have not tried other veggies but think they
would eat that two. They also love eating green algae and will eagerly strip
tanks of the green sheets that can form on the glass and objects.
