A few plants that are good to use with Endlers.
In EVERY Endler home, there is at least one live plant. Plants seem to be an absolute must for healthy fish. They absorb ammonia from fish waste and help to keep the water clear. My favorite plants include, Java Fern, Java Moss (the babies hide in this so the adults do not eat them), Horn Wort and aquatic Banana plants. I also use Dwarf Lillies from time to time when I find the bulbs at Wal-Mart. I like the above plants because they do not require gravel to grow well and then can stand up to the endler's appetite. Only strong plants should be used around this little fish! They love to eat vegetable matter whether algae or...as I found out, duckweed. I bought a huge amount of Duckweed on auction once to cover the surface of my tanks. I thought it would be a great way to put extra plants in all of my endler tanks. Within 24 hours my Endlers had devoured every single plantlet.
