1. What kind of play is Hamlet? The play Hamlet is a tragedy. It has some romance in it, but the romance dies rather quickly. 2. Why does the king's brother (Cladius) kill him? Because he is ready to be in the spotlight. He wanted to be king, he wanted to have his brother's wife. He wanted to be the hero. 3. Why does the queen put up with Cladius pushing her around? Because back in those days, the women really had no rights. Even though she was the queen, he didn't have to respect her. It was more like she had to respect him. 4. Why didn't Hamlet get to take over the kingdom? Hamlet didn't rush home when he found out that his dad was dead. The thought of his mother marrying his uncle didn't even cross Hamlet's mind. So since, Hamlet was not around the queen's new husband took over. The kingdom cannot go without a king. 5. Why didn't Hamlet rush home after finding out his father was dead? Hamlet and his father really were not close at all. He cared but then again didn't. The jester of the kingdom was more like Hamlet's father. 6. Is there something going on between Hamlet and the queen? Some people would say yes. But I think Hamlet is just trying to protect his mother. He wants her to realize who her husband really is. 7. Does Hamlet really love Ophelia? Deep down inside yes he does. But he didn't know that Ophelia was not allowed to him, he thought that she used him. You know like a one-night stand. So instead of begging her to go back with him, he told her that he never really loved her. 8. Why does Cladius want to get rid of Hamlet so badly? Because Hamlet knows what Cladius has done. He knows that Cladius is the one who killed his father. And if Hamlet lets everyone know, then Cladius will loose his power. 9. Did Hamlet really go mad? No, he just acts like he has gone mad. I think he does this to scare Cladius. Cladius won't let Hamlet go back to England so he acts like he has gone mad, so maybe Cladius will send him to England. 10. So, has Ophelia really gone mad? Ophelia has gone mad. Her father has been killed and the man she loves dearly doesn't love her back. Yeah, she's gone mad, and she has every right to do so. |
